The sequel we’ve all been waiting for is finally here. Lol I’m kidding nobody asked for this. But here we are: 15 years since the very first “xXx” hit theaters back in 2002 and 11 since its terrible sequel starring Ice Cube. “Return of Xander Cage” is pretty much self-explanatory, especially if you’re familiar with its predecessors or any Vin Diesel movie for that matter. Like every Vin Diesel vehicle, this installment doesn’t give a damn about buildup, character or story, just the next explosion or a chance for Diesel to crack one of his cheesy one liners. In terms of plot, there’s nothing much to say: There’re a deadly new threat and the world needs Xander Cage to return and save the day. Cue the brainless action scenes and the unlimited amount of cliches, perpetrated by Diesel himself. It’s fun at first, I have to admit, but even fans of the genre might be drained after a while. No wonder the movie was directed by Daniel John Caruso aka D.J. Caruso. The whole damn thing feels like an endless music video, and not a very good one either. They waited a decade to release this. It wasn’t worth the wait.
