WHO WE ARE

Anis Tabet, 31. Film critic. Founder of “Let’s Talk about movies”, a blog dedicated to movie reviews. I also host a show on Youtube called “Movie Court”, in which I review Lebanese movies along with my partner Daniel Habib, and discuss movies with local actors and filmmakers.

Background
It all started when my grandfather Julio used to screen Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardy movies every Sunday on his projector. When you watch moving pictures on a wall, it’s new and exciting when you’re a child. I was hooked ever since.

All my memories with my grandad included movies; he taught me so much about the classics, and as I grew older I started reading books and critics’ reviews. My interest grew stronger and I felt the urge to write my own reviews so I started writing short reviews and rating on an application on Facebook called Flixter.

In 2010, my partner, Vanessa Irani (visual identity + content management), encouraged me to start my very own blog, where I could review all the movies I watched. That is how tlkabtmovies.com was born. Later that year, I joined Twitter, where I gradually built an audience interested in what I had to say about movies. A Facebook page and Instagram account followed.

In 2015 I started hosting, in collaboration with Heyoka, the Youtube show called “Movie Court”, in which I review Lebanese movies along with my partner Daniel Habib, and discuss movies with local actors and filmmakers.
