I go to the movies to see comedies for one reason and one reason only: I want them to be funny, and therefore make me feel a little better, or at least lighten my mood. That’s exactly what I got from “Morning Glory”. The film has a clever premise and all the right people to carry it out. Rachel McAdams plays a laided off executive producer who is searching for a new job in the industry. She comes across a network station with a low budget, failing morning show. She sees her chance to turn things around and raise those extremely low rating before her new boss decides to pull the plug on the show. One of her missions is to employ famous reporter (and 3rd worst person in the world) Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford in a one of a kind role) as co-presenter. “Morning Glory” could have easily been just another Hollywood comedy with nothing new to offer at all. The story is somewhat clichéd and predictable, but it’s also pumped with a lot of energy from its A list cast. McAdams’s enthusiastic character and Ford’s over the top performance (he hasn’t been this funny and likable in year) make this a trip worth taking. They both have great chemistry together, and it’s a pleasure to watch them in this well written comedy for grownups. And remember: there is nothing wrong with watching a simplistic but cute movie that can take away the boredom and stress off your day. “Morning Glory” does exactly that; I suggest you give it a try.
