If you want a film that has a few things to say about the digital age but also manages to be silly and amusing, then “Ingrid Goes West” could be that movie for you. Aubrey Plaza nails her role as Ingrid Thorburn, a social media stalker who moves to LA so she could be closer to an Instagram star (played by Elizabeth Olsen). Despite a premise that insinuates horror, the movie is actually funny at times and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Of course, it still delivers a message about the pros and cons of social media, but it never does it in a preachy way. That’s not to say that the film is flawless (far from it actually), but I found it to be entertaining and not too demanding. Sometimes, that’s good enough.
Where to watch it? On Netflix.
