Unlike many action franchises, “John Wick” just keeps getting better and better. The first one reinvented Keanu Reeves as a major movie star. The sequel took things to the next level. Now chapter 3 delivers super-sized summer entertainment that ranks among the best action movies of the year (if not the best). If you haven’t followed the series’ previous installments, all you need to know is that Reeves’ John Wick is on the run after killing a member of the international assassin’s guild. In other words: everyone wants him dead, and I do mean everyone. From a pulse-pounding opening sequence to a climax that pays tribute to Bruce Lee’s classic “Enter the Dragon”, “Parabellum” is a constant delight. The action highlights, which begin in the film’s very first moments, are truly spectacular. Once again, Keanu Reeves affirms his potency as a true action hero. His unstoppable approach to his role, and the well-defined traits of all the supporting characters add color and humor to the story. If you’ve enjoyed the series thus far, you’ll find plenty to cheer for in “Parabellum”. It’s a total blast from start to finish.
