Did we need another retelling of the classic Mary Shelley story about Dr. Frankenstein and his monstrous creation? Hell no. But Hollywood doesn’t give a damn what we think. So here we are. James McAvoy (so good in tons of other movies) plays young Victor Frankenstein. Daniel “Harry Potter” Radcliffe plays his assistant Igor. You know the drill. Frankie wants to brings the dead back to life, with disastrous consequences. That’s it. To be fair, the movie does have its moments, but not enough to justify its existence. Radcliffe does too little and McAvoy too much as the movie spins into a sea of clichés. I say ditch it and watch the classic 1931 film starring Boris Karloff instead.
