Pan [2015] ★½

New-pan-poster Five reasons why “Pan” is a stinker:

1-Joe Wright, who directed such good movies as “Pride and Prejudice” and “Atonement”, put his actors in front of a blank screen and filled the rest digitally. That’s not always a bad thing, but in Pan’s case, the actors, from Levi Miller as Peter to Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, look lost. Only Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard (who looks more like Nosferatu) seems to be having a good time. But we’re not.

2- The plot is an origin story that explains Peter’s journey from the beginning. Sounds good. But all the characters are so poorly developed that you end up losing interest 30 minutes later.

3- The whole journey is a nauseating roller-coaster ride that rarely stops to take a deep breath. My head hurts just thinking about this unpleasant experience.

4- The dialogue is corny as hell.

5- “Pan” is a gimmick, not a movie.

  1. Loved how you reviewed the movie! I really liked the last point. Really made me laugh out loud! 🙂 You know what this means. I’m watching The Martian again this week and catching up with The Walk and Legend!
