Stylish (if overlong) adaptation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s celebrated novel set in a dark, alternate 1985 where superheroes have bonded together to respond to the murder of one of their own. Someone’s been plotting to get rid of our heroes, and it doesn’t take long for them to uncover a sinister plan that puts all of humanity in danger. If you’re not familiar with the graphic novel, you might not fully appreciate this very underrated superhero movie. When I first watched it, I had no clue what to expect from it, but I still found it to be fascinating. The action scenes blew me away, and it’s all because of “300” director Zach Snyder and his brilliant imagination. I think what makes “Watchmen” a really good movie is the fact that it’s complex, exhilarating and violent; it’s a movie that deserves its own analysis and discussion, and I loved that about it. Sure “The Dark Knight” looked fancy, but “Watchmen” is undeniably unique, and worthy of being described as rich and rewarding.
