Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising [2016] ★★

12513728_477134385816529_3207158820511638477_oUnlike many people, I wasn’t a fan of the first “Neighbors” movie, released a couple of years ago. But since the movie was an instant box office hit, a sequel sounded like a no-brainer. Take the exact same ingredients, turn the frat into a sorority, bring in Chloe Grace Moretz as the head of the sorority and history repeats itself. And it does. Now it’s up to you to decide whether that’s a good thing or not. If you enjoyed what the first film had to offer (and a lot of people did), then part 2 shouldn’t be a total bummer. Director Nicholas Stoller guides Seth Rogen and Zac Efron to a few mighty laughs. Even when the movie is spinning out of control (that’s half the time), Rogen and Efron give it a center. But the overall result is still a disappointment for me. Much like its predecessor, “Neighbors 2” is just a series of manic energy with no real destination. I believe Rogen and co deserve a better script and a better movie.

Rating: 2/4

  1. When you use 2 words like sick and disgusting and then give the movie a “D”, that means it passed. Barely, but it passed. Why not an “F”?

Hollywood (and especially the vile Seth Rogen) has long tapped into the sick and disgusting audience that goes to these movies. It started with Animal House (which was a really well done and hilarious movie that knew just how far to go) and has gone downhill ever since.

When you get right down to it, what or who do these kind of movies hurt? Nothing and no one. Are they any worse than the ultra-violent, sick and disgusting movies with everything from the super-hero cartoon violence or the extreme murder and mayhem in horror, thriller, and many other movies?

I won’t be seeing any of these movies, especially Seth Rogen movies. Is it just me, or does anyone else think he probably has terrible personal hygiene and terrible body odor???

I understand where you’re coming from but Seth Rogen makes movies that don’t always appeal to everyone. Pineapple Express, This is the end, Neighbors, especially The interview can make some audiences uncomfortable. However, as a fan of Seth Rogen and a fan of his movies, at least Seth Rogen does different scenarios even if he plays the same character, unlike Adam Sandler, who does the same thing over and over again.

      1. Im usually a big Seth Rogen fan. But for some reason I didnt’ care for Neighbors or its sequel.

I believe you’re excited for Rogen’s adult animated feature Sausage Party as much as I am.
