I love it when everyone is busy with award season and yet studios insist on dumping their worst movies thinking we wouldn’t notice. Well we do notice, especially when it’s a painfully unfunny comedy starring two actors that deserve much much more: Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg. Ferrell plays a stepdad who is trying to bond with his stepchildren. So far so good. But then the biological father shows up (Walhberg) and things get messy. Literally. It’s a one joke premise (and not a funny one) stretched beyond endurance. “Daddy’s Home” is the kind of movie that gives Hollywood comedies a bad name. It’s relentless, repetitive and just plain dull. Skip it.
