As someone who didn’t expect much from this comedy starring Simon Pegg and Lake Bell, I actually had a good time watching it. Bell plays an English woman who will very much remind you of Bridget Jones: 34, single, kinda depressed. On her way to her parents’ 40th wedding anniversary, she meets Jack (Pegg), who mistakes her for his blind date. She decides to go along with it, with hilarious consequences. Director Ben Palmer likes to mix it up, playing the romance in a funny and sometimes poignant way. He does well. But Pegg and Bell work the necessary magic. It’s the pleasure of their company that makes this a date to remember. I say give it a shot.
