If you admire such films as “This Is Spinal Tap”, “Stand By Me” and “The Princess Bride” as I do, you’ll be rooting for director Rob Reiner to score another bull’s-eye with his latest effort. But it’s clear pretty early on that “And so it Goes” is a muddled misfire: a tiresome, talky “romantic” comedy about a self-absorbed man who is left in charge of a granddaughter he never knew existed when his son goes to prison. That the main characters are played by Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton makes it even more disheartening. Worse, Rob Reiner himself tries to negotiate an unplayable role as a piano player with a ridiculous toupée . Well that’s just…sad. Keaton is still as glamorous onscreen as ever, which is the only thing I’m likely to remember about “And so it Goes” There is nothing else positive to say about this sorry excuse of a comedy.
