Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg are a pleasure to watch in almost anything. But they’re both too good for a standard-issue action movie like “2 Guns”. I had a good time watching it, I can’t deny that, but the movie is full of possibilities and it sucks that only a few of them are realized. On the bright side, Washington and Wahlberg make a fine team, playing a couple of guys who are hustling money and drugs on both sides of the Mexican border. Then they decide to rob a bank, with disastrous consequences. It’s hard to talk more about the story without revealing key elements, but you should know that director Baltasar Kormakur (“Contraband”) knows how to keep the action roaring. And that’s what makes “2 Guns” fun to watch, at least for a while, before it veers into increasingly repetitive gun fights and you realize that it has nowhere else to go. Both actors deserve better. And so do we.
