Battle: Los Angeles [2011]

Evaluating any movie is a matter of personal taste. Filmmakers who deal withย an idea that has been done so many times before might find it difficult to bring something new to the table. This is my way of saying that I couldn’t standย “Battle: Los Angeles”.ย In fact, I had a violent reaction to the film, which I saw without expecting too much from it. I cannot convey to you how much cheese is sprouted by the actors in the movie (“you’re father was a real hero son”). Sometimes, a film is bad because the actors and directors don’t know any better (Skyline anyone?). But what do you say about a film that had a decent budget and A list actors, but still turned out to be an indescribable, horrific mess and an insult to our intelligence? Oh and you want to make things even worse? Throw in a couple of embarassing propagandas like “marines don’t quit”, and telling a little boy “I want you to be my little marine”.ย Be ready to puke, big time.

The story is extremely B movieish, which would definitely be fine if this was a B movie. However, this is supposed to be a big budget action flick, where this sort of script and dialogue should not be found. Alas, there’s zero plot, only Marine Military advertisement, and CGI action fodder for the computer game generation. Not my idea of fun. Don’t see this movie, but spend your money on something more useful, like a pen or an empty shoebox. And remember: “Marines don’t quit!!”.

oww come on anis! this movie was supposed to be a pure entertainement one! its not abt how deep the characters are or how much u can relate to it. its abt aliens invading earth as simple as that. its far from a B movie dude! B movies are cheap with cheap actors and cheap special effects. its not one of those movies that are supposed to be in anyone top 100 list but just a gr8 adrenaline ride from start to finish! Aaron eckhart rules!

This is a B movie disguised as a big budget one :p I still love Aaraon Eckhart, but I honestly couldn’t follow all the action here. It felt like a video game, which got me thinking how amazing it would be to play the game :p bass as a movie it didnt work for me. When it comes to aliens, I still prefer signs and war of the worlds. If u havent seen skyline yet, dont :p

hahaha i ain’t gonna watch skyline that’s for sure:P well yeah for me signs is one of my fav and captures the true intensity of a possible alien encounter. Dt forget Aliens which redefined the genre forever and i love close encounters too. Battle LA is close to independance day which for me surpasses this one

  3. I agree with Da322or, I do feel you went into the movie with expectations a bit beyond what the movie was all about. Above anything else, this was a visual experience, and if you turned off your brain for a bit you might have enjoyed it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I couldn’t enjoy it even with my brain turned off :p and I usually have no problem with a brainless action movie every now and then. But like I said: evaluating any movie is a matter of personal taste!
