Oscar Picks and Predictions

This is my favorite time of the year. The Academy Awards will air on February 27, and I love the fact that they’re naming ten nominees in the best picture category. Because lets face it, this isn’t really about being the best (every movie nominatedย is aย potential oscar winner in my opinion); it’s about recognizing quality filmmaking. Of course some movies were omitted (“The Ghost Writer”and “Shutter Island” come to mind), but overall, the ten nominees are all excellent. I thought I’d share with youย my predictions for the winners in the major categories. I feel it’s a tough one this year, but oscar season wouldn’t be the same without the “prediction game”.

  1. I agree with you on almost all the predicted winners except the best picture. Imo i believe “inception” should take home the oscar for this category. As for the other titles, BAFA can be a good benchmark to base your predictions on; and i guess you were influenced by it, right?

Well to be honest I’ve had these predictions in my mind for a while now. Every year I manage to predict at least the winners in the major categories (best picture, acting and directing). Let’s hope I’m not wrong this year :p Concerning the best picture category, I’m rooting for 127 hours myself, but I know it won’t happen. “The King’s Speech” sounds like a more solid contender for the award. Inception will never win in my opinion, simply because it was a huge commercial success, and the academy voters always prefer to choose movies that not everyone has seen (“The Hurt Locker” was a fine example of that).

  2. agree with all of them but i have doubts for best Actor ๐Ÿ˜€

Inception won 4 oscars, which is excellent. Its true that it didnt win any awards in the acting categories, but at least it swept every technical award. It’s still a great result in my opinion!
