An umarried 40 year old woman (Jennifer Aniston) decides that it’s time to have a baby. When she finally finds the perfect sperm donor (Patrick Wilson), her best friend (Jason Bateman) replaces the sperm sample with his own (can you blame him? he was drunk). Another comedy (or is it one?) that tries to be clever and original but ends up being just as lame and predictable as all the others (“Back up Plan” I’m referring to you). Aniston and Bateman’s charm make this oddly watchable, but even these two deserve something better than this; they’re both talented, and to see them waste their time on something “average” is inexplicable. Very atypical from the guys who brought us “Juno” and “Little Miss Sunshine”. Instantly forgettable.
Fun fact: The first Miramax release since the company was sold by the Walt Disney Company to Colony Capital.
