Welcome to “F**k Town”, a town where armed robbers triumph, cops are dirty, prostitutes are abused, and where Santa is a fat pedophile. Nasty sight. What you get in “Hobo With A Shotgun” is Rutger Hauer (“Blade Runner”), who plays an old bugger who steps off a train in this lawless town. After saving a a prostitute from rape and murder by the local thugs, the hobo becomes a vigilante dedicated to rooting out evil and whenever possible shooting it with a shotgun. The town’s leading psycho, Drake and his two sons, enjoy rounding up bums, stick their heads out of manholes and decapitate them with rope and bumper cars. If you think this is disgusting, wait till you see the rest of this B-movie, which borrows a lot from Robert Rodriguez’s “Planet Terror” and “Machete”. There’s a lot of blood and violence, which is just how director Jason Eisener likes it. But how much is too much? While the movie is a great deal of fun for those looking for gore and guts, it also finds a way to become repetitive and dull. I know I had enough after the hour mark, and even though the film runs for 86 minutes, it still felt overlong. But it’s Hauer who keeps things interesting, at least for a while, with his killer instinct, and bad-ass attitude. This is one crazy town I tell you, also occupied by robot army, and a giant octopus (wtf?). Masochists will probably give this one a thumbs up, while moralists would want it buried at the bottom of a dumpster. Your call.
