Gran Torino [2008]

I’ve always been a sucker for Clint Eastwood’s movies. From the spaghetti trilogy to “Dirty Harry”, this guy never ceased to amaze me. And now at 80, he’s never been better. In Gran Torino, he plays a lonely old man whose wife just died. His neighbours are asians but he doesn’t seem to like that (mainly because he took part in the Korean war and killed a dozen of them). Then one night he takes his gun out and saves the asian family from a gang of thugs. I won’t reveal more about the story but all I want to say is that Eastwood at 80 is the same badass he was in the “Dirty Harry” movies. In fact they could have easily named this movie the return of “Dirty Harry”. And of course there’s the car he loves so much: The Gran Torino. The story is funny, sad, melancholic all at once. And only Eastwood could deliver such an amazing experience. “Gran Torino” is  a damn fine movie, and I hope people would feel the same after they watch it.
