This mediocre follow-up to 2017’s “47 Meters Down” finds more group of friends trapped underwater with deadly Great White Sharks surrounding them. The first film wasn’t innovative in any way, but it was suspenseful enough and had some solid scares to validate its existence. The new one, while genuinely terrifying at times, plays its cards much too early and doesn’t add anything new to the table. It has a few good ideas here and there, but it rarely rises above the routine. If you’re a fan of the genre and have never seen the first movie, I suggest you check it out (it’s not “Jaws”, but it’s fun). As for this one, I say skip it. It’s easily digested and just as easily forgotten.
