You won’t find quotable dialogue here, but if you’re looking for a comedy to keep you entertained for a couple of hours, “Dumplin'” might be the movie for you. Jennifer Aniston plays a former beauty queen who now hosts the yearly Miss Teen Bluebonnet pageant in a small Texas town (and she takes it way too seriously). As a protest, her plus-size teenage daughter decides to sign up just to piss her off. It’s an unusual premise for sure, and it’s fueled by a couple of good performances by Aniston and Danielle Macdonald. And although it never truly reaches its full potential, the movie remains entertaining throughout. I don’t think I had any particular expectations for this film prior to seeing it, but I had a good time with it. It may not be great, but the message is sweet and the cast seems to be having a good time. Sometimes, that’s good enough.
