Kingsman: The Golden Circle [2017] ★★★

Sequels to successful movies are usually tricky business, but I had a total blast watching “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”. Yes, the element of surprise is gone and there isn’t much to discover here. The good news, however, is that director Matthew Vaughn hasn’t lost his love for inspired lunacy. Hanging with Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and the rest of the Kingsmen is still everything you’d want from a comic book film. The plot? The first one had Samuel L. Jackson as a crazy baddie. The new one doubles the fun by introducing Julianne Moore as the head of an evil organization known as “The Golden Circle”. Now it’s up to our Kingsmen (and a few newcomers) to save the world once again. Nothing new or revolutionary here. But you can banish all the complaints and just roll with the nonstop fun and games. Vaughn and his co-writer Jane Goldman never run out of funny dialogue for the Kingsmen. There are difficult obstacles to vanquish, incredibly cool gadgets to own, and more sequels to set-up. Remarkably, I found myself looking forward to yet another Kingsman installment. Who can resist that?
