It may be less than perfect, but “Lion”, starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman, has enough emotional moments to satisfy moviegoers seeking a heartwarming true story. When the film opens, we meet Saroo, a 5 year old boy who lives in poverty with his mother, sister, and big brother in a small indian village. One night, while out with his brother, Saroo goes missing and ends up in a train that takes him to Calcutta, thousands of miles from home. Since we already know from the trailer and synopsis that years later, Saroo will set out to find his lost family, “Lion”is all about the journey, not the destination. That journey is brightened by a lot of talented actors (especially Dev Patel who gives one of the best performances of his career so far) and credible situations. Director Gareth Davis wanted to shed light on the thousands of kids who go missing every year in India. By doing so, he has managed to deliver an enormously moving film. Go see it.
